The Big Woods comes to life with the sounds of birds calling. Their varied sounds and intense calls lead other animals to enjoy what they can hear, even before dawn. Neo liked learning all about the sounds of the Big Woods and how different each bird can be. We hear all sorts of sounds here, but I will let Neo tell me about those early-morning noises he might hear while camping. I have already perfected the sound of the Saturday-morning early riser boy! You cannot miss it!

beautiful story of the woods coming alive with sounds as the ight progresses. Consists primarily of the sounds various birds make as they wake, starting with the owl and ending with a rooster (who lives far from the woods), all working together to wake the rest of the forest animals to a beautiful sound.

This is a fun run through of all the birds who greet the day from the owl to the wood pecker to the rooster. I think this would work great for a birds storytime or a sounds one. Kids will really enjoy imitating the sounds I am sure.

Super cute, but when I think of an orchestra, I think of lots of different instruments coming together to form a concert of sound. This book shows a lot of different birds that make noise. I think it would have been nice to include some other animals such as coyotes, etc.

As dawn breaks, the wood starts getting pretty noisy as all the birds add their tunes to the orchestra. Each bird belts its' unique song!Fun read for a bird storytime, or if kids are learning about birds.

    6. Corinne

I really enjoyed the simple story line and big colorful pages. The idea of the animals being the orchestra was really nice to. Beautiful story.

    7. Dawn

Loved this book about the 'orchestra' of bird sounds we hear just before dawn. Great storytime read for little ones and practicing making sounds in chorus!

    8. Sara

Cute! But I think probably better for toddler story time than preschool. The toddlers will love joining along in all the bird sounds.

    9. Andrea

Good introduction to birds for younger children. Would be fun to chant/sing all the calls at the end of the book.

Preschool storytime: large sized, great illustrations and potential for additional "joyful noise." bird theme, spring theme, music theme

The illustrations in this are stunning. When reading this to the little ones, you can get them to help you make the bird sounds too. It could get loud and hectic, but definitely fun too.

This wonderful book has painterly illustrations, telling the story of how several birds greet the spring day with their various calls. A pretty book with a lovely closing portrait.
