This book dealt with building a by- pass in the city. Grisham's early books were rather interesting and informative. He has devolved into a left-wing flak.

Theodore Boone is a series written by John Grisham. The series is one of my favorites to read. The books are about Theodore Boone, a kid lawyer who fights crime in the city of Strattenburg. Although he is only 13 he has been involved in a murder trial, an abduction and more. In this book, the city has proposed a plan to build a bypass to reduce traffic on a busy street. Although it may sound like a good idea, there are many negative effects. The family of one of Theo's best friends lives on a fa [...]

This has to be my favoorite book in the series so far. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters and it was an exciting read for a YA thriller. Ike is still my favourite character as he is so nice and calm and cares so much for Theo, especially when he volunteers to stay in the vet's all night with him when Judge is unconcious. These books are very well aimed at their younger audience and keep you reading right through. I like John Grisham's style of writing as I have with his senior fiction bo [...]

I am reviewing the novel Theodore Boone: The Activist by John Grisham which is an excellent book which I bought from a local supermarket. I think this novel is aimed at teenagers but is still pretty good and relevant to older people. It's part of the Theodore Boone series and this is the 4th installment and these books have been quite successful regularly getting to the number 1 spot on the book charts. Grisham normally does legal thrillers and these books about a youngster whose parents are bot [...]

Grisham weaves together a great story using his YA character Theodore Boone. Tackling the theme of community activism in all its forms,, Grisham explains this to the young reader using concrete examples, while tailoring a story to fill the educational moments. Eminent domain appears to be one of the key aspects of educational material and how governments use it to create infrastructure. Theodore Boone returns to being the kid lawyer phenomenon, for which he is so well known. He revisits the hall [...]

Book #4 picks up a month after book #3 ends, opening with Theo's 8th grade debate team -- he's the captain and the star, of course -- in a contest against "Central, the 'other' school in town and the great rival of Strattenburg Middle School" (p.3).This is another thoroughly enjoyable read. The "activist" part comes in first when Theo takes up the cause of his music teacher who is suddenly let go. It comes in second when a friend of Theo's wants him to get involved in protesting a controversial b [...]

I really don't expect to be crying in the middle of a John Grisham book, certainly not a John Grisham YA book. But put an injured animal into the midst of the story? Yep, I was tearing up. The series has been a bit up and down for me so far in terms of my enjoyment. But this fourth book is probably my favorite. In addition to the heartbreaking and heartwarming incident with Theo's dog Judge, I was especially pleased that Theo did NOT take a risk and violate the ethics of law (whether or not he w [...]

When I ordered this book from the library I didn't realize it was a YA BOOK. I jumped right in as I have enjoyed US books from Stuart Gibbs and Carl Hiaasen.I found this book to be enjoyable and entertaining! Recommend to young and young at heart. There are 5 books in this series and I plan to read them all!

It’s a normal day in Strattenburg, almost. Pete Duffy is still missing, but there are other, more important, matters right now. One of those being the Red Creek Bypass, a four-lane highway that is planned to plow right through the pristine countryside, past a school, and through a soccer complex. One of Theo’s friends from boy scouts, Hardie Quinn, is the grandson of one of the homeowners of the land that could be seized by the state for the bypass. He asks for Theo’s advice on the matter, [...]

Another chapter in little Theo's life and another battle won. Of course, this one is very different from the previous ones. The plot looks subtle at first but as it gathers pace to kindle our emotions, it looks at its best. Our lead is Theo as always. This time supported by friends he fights for a social cause. As usual with his elegance and style John Grisham nails the climax voting part with Theo Boone at his best. On a lighter note, it reminds us that he(Theo) is growing day by day. The way i [...]

Second attempt to give John Grisham a chance since the first book I read was not at all interesting but this, this book, Theodore and Gang gave me hope.

Some books in this series are better than the others this one was good but not as good as the others. I think that the theme was that not everything is not what it seems. The beginning of the book was bad for the main character then toward the end it got better for him.

The Book I read was Theodore Boone The Activist by John Grisham. Theo is the only child to Mr. and Mrs. Boone, also know as the Boone and Boone layers. His parents are in the layer business so Theo knows his stuff pretty well. This book is about Theo and his friends fighting and unnecessary, in their opinion, bypass that the government wants to build on top of lots of homes and right next to a school along with a huge soccer complex with multiple fields. When Theo’s friend Hardie reached out t [...]

In the book Theodore Boone; the activist, John Grisham's main message is to not fight for what others want but for what one believes. In Strattensburg there is a new idea of a bypass going in. It all looks fantastic except for the fact of the people losing their homes, farms, and for the kids in Jackson Elementary who will soon be 100 feet away from the four lane highway. Theodore Boone is the protagonist in this book. The narrator tells this story in a third person limited view. It focuses on T [...]

Everybody wants to be a hero. That is every kids dream. Walk on the moon or wear a cape saving people is what we all wanted to do. What if I say you could be a hero by standing up for what is right? Would you be brave enough to do it?This is the problem Theodore Boone faced in “The Activist” by John Grisham. He has the evidence, enough power, and the people to stop an unneeded bypass ruining his town. But the question is, will it be enough? As you read this story, it will seem like the charac [...]

The Activist is the fourth in the Theodore Boone series. In this book, a bypass is proposed for the city of Strattenburg. The bypass will go through several houses and farms, cross the river twice, and go right by an elementary school and soccer complex. Theo becomes an activist against the bypass. He enlists the help of his friends to put a stop to this unnecessary project. I am not really a fan of John Grisham or really any adult author who tries to make a buck on the youth market. However, I [...]

The activist by John GrishamIn the mysterious novel the activist by John Grisham the story takes place mostly in the town Strattenburg. Some of the various locations the town takes place is in the middle school. Another place the book takes place is Where Theo's parents work. Lastly another place the book takes place is the hospital. The main characters in the story are Theo Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Boone, Theo's friend April Finnmore, and Judge Yeck. Some of the recurring characters are Woody, Chase [...]

In the book Theodore Boone: The Activist by John Grisham, Grisham portays the character of a young, 8th grade, Theo Boone who is obsessed with law. In this 4th installment of the series, Theo's uncle explains about an environmental and political scandal. The politicians are working with companies to take out natural habitats and industrialize the area. Adding malls, stores, restaurants; and no one knows how to stop it, except Theodore Boone.Theodore Boone is a very interesting, fun, and well rou [...]

The three stars is a composite rating of 4 stars for an adult reading this and 2 stars for a reader in the 9-12 age group. While Theo Boone holds a soft spot in my reading world for me, I look at the range of books for 9-12 and also at what my two grandsons, both voracious readers, in the center of that range read, and they can't get interested in this series. I slipped this book into my reading of other books as this 9-12/some YA books is a secret pleasure for me and gives me a lot of joy, rela [...]

My least favorite of the now four Theodore Boone books. I least like Grisham's writing when he gets going on super liberal political topics and this book slanted that way for me. Plotting also seemed much less cohesive than in the previous TB books. Grisham has fully admitted in recent interviews that he doesn't bother to do much research anymore, and it really showed here. A large part of the first half of the book involved Theo's Boy Scout troop activities, where there were several glaring pro [...]

Anyone can enjoy Theodore Boone. It is a book that pushes kids to their limits. Theodore Boone is a classic book with a little twist of mystery. Theodore Boone, a teenage boy with parents who are both lawyers, is a "lawyer" himself. He aids his neighbors, teachers, and friends while dealing with legal issues. Needless to say, he is adept at dealing with law, court cases etc. In this book, Theodore finds himself in the middle of environmental issue that suddenly became a political controversy. He [...]

Great book, this book is a young adult book, but I as an adult have enjoyed this series. About a kid who's parents are both lawyers and he has learned a bit of the law and advises his friends and their relatives on what to do or explains the laws to these people. It this book the activist is about Theodore Boone who forms a group of kids and adults to fight the government on building a bypass for trucks. The government is planning to take people's lands away in order to get this done. Also this [...]

I thought this was a good book. This is a book for people that like mystery books. This book is about a boy named Theodore Boone who is like a kid lawyer. The city wants to build a bypass for a bunch of the semi trucks did not have to go through the city. If they build the bypass it is going to take down a bunch of peoples homes and land. Also I will be going right by a elementary school so then it will be really loud and the kids will be breathing in gasoline and bad fumes from the trucks. Then [...]

Theodore Boone: The Activist was a very exciting book writ in by John Grisham. I have read many of Grisham's works and this one the fourth in this particular series was excellent. It couples realistic situations with an intelligent spin on humor. Through the pages Grisham is able to paint a picture of the realness these characters are facing. It is also a gripping and suspenseful law novel that John Grisham is notorious for writing. However, this series is written with youth readers in mind whic [...]

From the first look I felt that this book is different from the others so, I decided to buy it. The story is about the world youngest lawyer. He is the only son of two lawyer parents. He is clever; he always tries to help his friends in school. I liked the book because it talks about real life problems that always happen between the government and the people. This book also let you think about the world in many different ways. I think I will continue reading the whole series and I recommend this [...]

This was an okay book to read because of many reasons. "The Activist" is full of suspense, but it doesn't have a lot of action outside of the courtroom. Also, some things in this book are a bit unrealistic like some of the things they put in their video to fight the bypass from being built in their town. I would rate this book at 3 out of 5 because I like action books and this doesn't have a lot of that in it. I would still probably recommend this book to a friend because some things in it are k [...]

I recommend that you read the books in order. Here they are: Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer, Theodore Boone: The Abduction, Theodore Boone: The Accused, and Theodore Boone: The Activist.Theo's dog Judge gets hurt by some awful people. Will he survive the night, the week? Can he heal? As all this going on there is a bypass that is trying to happen. But that means that it will destroy some soccer fields and it will go right by there school. Gases from cars and trucks will come and could harm kids. Can [...]
