The prose is just too melodramatic, and the heroine too much of a gullible twit for me to enjoy. Her switch from virgin to wanton lacked any kind of depth, while the vampire pirate Galerius embodied one cliche too many for my tastes.

I have to say, as an aspiring writer I'm jealous as hell of Abigail Barnette (aka Jennifer Armintrout). Particularly her gift with writing short/novella-length erotica stories.I don't even like vampire romance, and this one still gets five stars from me. It's a scorcher of a story that has lots of extremely hot menage action, m/m sex that works well and doesn't exclude the heroine, and even the vampirey bits are sexy. Got bored, put it down, forgot to return to it. Happy that I got it as a promotional giveaway from ARe, at least. My usual reaction to pirates/capture fantasies tends to vary between complete lack of interest and repulsion. There was nothing I found particularly objectionable, but none of the characters were interesting enough to me to get over the set-up. So, while it wasn't to my taste, if you're into polyamorous pirates, it might be worth checking out.

Four words: vampire pirate erotic novella. I am on board with three of those things, just not the novella part. With more length, the transition of the heroine from curious virgin to ménage participant could have been allowed more time to unfold, and some of the many unanswered questions left at the end of the book could have been answered. I wanted more because I liked what I got.

Not quite what I've come to expect from this author but not a total waste of time. The heroine made me want to drown her though.
